I figured it was about time you heard from the Strong Rock herd. The horses have wintered well, and are enjoying the new spring grass that’s starting to sprout. They are shedding their winter coats, and will soon be all slick and shiny, and ready for a summer of camp. Here’s a preview of this year’s herd. If you’ve been here before you’ll know most of them, but we have a few new ones to show off as well. Here goes!

Let’s just start with everyone’s favorite– Taffy! She’s the oldest horse at camp, and is still going strong!

Good old Lady. Looks kind of like she’s laughing…hmmm…..

Here’s what Maverick looks like in the winter. Have you ever seen so much hair? It’s coming off of him by the handfuls right now. Anyone want to come groom some camp horses…and leave wearing a coat of your very own?

Here’s one of the new guys. His name is Huey, and he’s half Quarter Horse, half Thoroughbred. He came to us from a lady in a neighboring county.

Here’s Eli. It’s been our experience that the lighter the color of the horse, the dirtier the spot he will find to roll in.

Kieffer!

Here’s DC, one of the few colorful horses at Strong Rock.

Here’s another new one, a cute little guy named Reggie. He’s a Quarter Horse.

Reggie and DC exchange a friendly hello.

Here’s Onyx!

Here’s another new girl. She is a Quarter Horse, and her name is Dottie.

Until this year, Strong Rock has never had any ponies. This year we have not one, but two! This one is a sweet girl named Penny. She is a Halflinger.

Here she is with her best buddy Dottie, so you can see what her size is like.

Here’s the other pony, another Halflinger, named Rosco. He belongs to Spurs’ daughter (Strong Rock’s riding program director), and with her permission we’ll be using him for lessons this summer.

Here he is with Dante, Spurs’ horse. Poor guy can’t even see over the fence!

Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo? Oh wait, here he is!

And last but not least, Jasmine.
Strong Rock’s friendly herd will be waiting for you this summer. Don’t forget to sign up for horseback riding as a skill! If you live in this area, (or if you can talk your parents into staying here for a week!), be sure to check out our horseback riding day camp, which will happen the weeks of July 29-24 and July 27-31. It’s all about horses, all day long!
Look at what else was wandering around the Strong Rock pasture this week:

Lots of wild turkeys!

Check out the big tom right in the middle. Cool, huh?
Opportunities are endless at Strong Rock to see God’s creation in action. Can’t wait to see you here soon!
