Many of you probably are just getting back in the groove from Spring Break fun and excitement. Though I didn’t truly have a Spring Break, I did get to take a little time off last week to spend time with my family. My wife and I spent the first half of the week hosting her sister and our niece for a few days. The girls ate Sushi and got pedicures Monday while I worked and then we spent Tuesday together down in Atlanta eating some scrumptious (read unhealthy) lunch at Johnny Rockets followed by a tour of the New World of Coke. The 4D experience was pretty cool, but the highlight was the tasting room where much to my dismay, we got suckered into tasting the Beverly. Yeah, I fell for it… all of the tour guides rave about the Beverly, so you just have to try it. Well, spare yourself the agony and take it from me, if you don’t like cough syrup, you probably won’t like this one. At any rate, we did find a few decent flavors to wash down the despicable Beverly, and then left the tour with our cool little 8 oz bottle of Coke. With our bellies full of Coke, we made the trek back home and settled in to a local pizza hot spot for some great dinner before retiring for the evening.
Back to Strong Rock on Wednesday for a few productive hours planning some cool stuff for this summer, and then my niece and I headed out for Winston’s training lessons. After the dog training, we hit the Malibu Grand Prix for some go-kart action. Julia left me in the dust in two of our three races, with me taking the victory in the other race. Beautiful evening, lots of fun, and some great memories.
Thursday started with an early morning blitz back at Strong Rock to tie up some loose ends, followed by a nine hour drive down to the in-laws in Florida. Friday morning we had a great breakfast with the grandparents and then spent the rest of the day with the parents over at Busch Gardens in Tampa. We saw some really cool animals including gorillas, giraffes, rhinos and some crazy looking frogs and snakes. I rode the coolest roller coaster I have ever been on, Sheikra, which has an awesome view and some incredible free falls. If you love coasters and find yourself at Busch Gardens, you have to ride this one. We ate, rode a few other rides and spent a great day with the family.
All of the fun and excitement of last week made me so excited about the summer. Hanging out with my real family reminded me of the great friends I have at camp and just how much like family you all have become. I can’t wait to reunite with my camp friends each summer, and always love meeting the new faces that join us at Strong Rock. You are a part of our family, and each summer is like a big family reunion. Hanging out, having fun, meeting new friends and making memories is what summers at Strong Rock are all about. Best of all, you get to do all of that in a safe, fun, clean, Christ centered environment that is bound to help you strengthen your faith.
Finish up this last bit of the school year and then come to camp ready for a summer you will never forget. We have some great new things planned for this summer, so you don’t want to miss out. There are still some spots left so bring a friend with you and allow them the chance to experience the Strong Rock magic as well. So hurry up, your Strong Rock Family is waiting for YOU!
