Parent Resources: Avoiding Nature Deficit Disorder

     Now that camp is over for the summer, one of the things that strikes me is how quiet it is around this place.  Summer brings the sounds and sights of kids having a blast outdoors- swimming, playing, running, chasing, and using “outdoor voices.” They are doing what kids do best, and it’s a joy to watch.

Parenting Resources: Becoming Like Jesus

     Now that the new year has begun, my thoughts have turned to the habits I want to change for the upcoming year.  One of the things I would like to do better is to have a regularly scheduled daily devotional time.  “Time alone” is nearly an oxymoron in our house with four little kids!  Perhaps as a parent you feel this way too.

Parent Resources: Promote a Thankful Heart

     Happy holidays from Strong Rock Camp!  We are just days away from Thanksgiving, and its approach has really made me think about how to build an attitude of thankfulness into my children.  James and I have four kids, five and under, so you can probably imagine that between their ages and the fact that they constantly have to share things, selfishness often surfaces!  It’s hard to be thankful in the midst of selfishness.  I certainly find this to be true of myself, and I’m a grown up!  Do you ever have ungratefulness at your house?
