Packing for Camp

When packing for camp parents may want to consider the following:

Lost and Found

Strong Rock’s staff will do all they possibly can to insure your camper goes home with all that they brought to camp. To assist us with this phenomenal feat, we ask that each camper have his or her name written on each item when possible, even disposable cameras, and toiletries. A great place to put their name on their clothing is either on or near the tag. This gives us a consistent place to look. If your child leaves something at camp, we maintain a Lost and Found until September 30th.  Please call if you are missing a specific item and we will return it to you.  After September 30th, Lost and Found items will be donated to a local charity.

Dress Code

Strong Rock has a modest dress code. Our desire is for each camper to feel comfortable. Campers should not feel the need to draw attention to themselves by the way they dress, nor should any camper be made to feel embarrassed because of their dress. T-shirts and tank tops, and shorts with modest hemline are always the best bet at camp. Please do not buy all new clothes for camp. In order to create the environment we desire, we must enforce the following dress code:

  1. Clothing that expresses distasteful or vulgar messages or images will not be allowed.
  2. Clothing that is revealing, such as very short shorts, shirts that expose the midriff, or clothing that is excessively tight will not be allowed. Boys may wear sleeveless shirts, but will be asked to keep their shirts on, except for swimming.
  3. We prefer that campers leave at home any footwear that does not have a rear strap or back to it. These may be worn at camp, but they do tend to cause injuries. Campers will not be allowed to wear them in classes that require some physical activity.
  4. We request that parents send swimsuits with their daughters that do not reveal their midriff. If they do not have one, please send a dark t-shirt with them that they may swim in. They will not be allowed to wear swimsuits that are revealing.
  5. Campers staying two weeks may bring a nicer outfit for Sunday morning services. Remember the summers in Georgia are warm, therefore shorts are fine.
  6. Campers intending to take horseback riding MUST bring pants and boots with a smooth sole (no treads) and a definite heel. No camper will be allowed to ride in tennis shoes, hiking boots, or duck boots. All of these can be dangerous in stirrups and around horses feet. Please do not hinder your campers participation by forgetting this request.

Electronic Devices and Valuables

Although our world is becoming increasingly electronically dependent, MP3 players, cell phones, hand-held games, and all other similar devices are not allowed at camp. All such items will be held in the office and returned to campers at the end of the session. Campers are encouraged to leave valuable or expensive cameras, watches or jewelry at home, for camp will not be responsible for the loss or damage to such items.

Laundry service is provided for campers staying more than one week.
